Trump’s acknowledgement of the honour quickly gained traction online, with the US President describing the naming as the first time an American president had received such a recognition in India.
Hyderabad Gets ‘Donald Trump Avenue’
The post came after the Telangana government officially inaugurated ‘Donald Trump Avenue’ in Hyderabad’s Financial District at Nanakramguda, where the US diplomatic mission and several multinational technology firms are located.

The move was intended to underscore Hyderabad’s growing international profile and its role in strengthening India-US ties.
The commemorative plaque was unveiled earlier this week during a ceremony attended by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and senior Telangana government officials. The event formed part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
According to the US Consulate General in Hyderabad, the road’s renaming honours the United States while recognising Hyderabad’s growing significance as a centre for India-US cooperation, particularly in the technology, aerospace and defence sectors.
Speaking at the event, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said Hyderabad exemplifies the strengthening partnership between India and the United States, highlighting the city’s expanding role in advancing bilateral ties.
“Nowhere is the high-speed trajectory of the US-India partnership more evident than in Hyderabad. From HITEC City to aerospace and defence, this region represents progress that is defining US-India bilateral momentum," he said.
Thanking the Telangana government for the gesture, Gor said the decision to name the road after US President Donald Trump reflected the “strong, respectful partnership" championed by the American leader.
The renaming was part of the Telangana government’s broader initiative to create internationally recognisable landmarks across Hyderabad by naming key roads and public infrastructure after globally significant personalities and institutions.
