MEERUT: As the US-Israel attack on Iran rages, deepening the humanitarian crisis in that country, three brothers in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district donated a 125 square yard plot worth approximately Rs 15 lakh to support families of children killed in the attacks in Iran.Yasir Mustafa, Amaan Mustafa and Subar Mustafa, residents of Rasoolpur Dhaulri village in Janikhurd area, said they were moved by reports claiming that nearly 200 children were killed in attacks by the US and Israel on Iran."We felt we had to do something to help those families. We have seen our father doing such deeds and we follow the same. He passed away a few years ago," Amaan Mustafa said.The family of timber traders donated the plot to Anjuman Hussainia, an organisation collecting funds for victims of the conflict. According to the organisation’s cashier, Tanveer Haider, the land will be auctioned and the proceeds shall be used to providefinancial assistance to affected families. Haider said the funds would be transferred to Iran through the Iranian embassy in New Delhi after completing formal procedures. He added that the organisation has already raised and sent Rs 6.1 lakh through the embassy, including contributions collected door-to-doorin Rasoolpur village. Haider noted that several children aged between six and 10 also donated their piggy banks, while one child donated a bicycle that was later sold for Rs 1,300.The initiative has been widely praised by local residents as an act of compassion amid a humanitarian crisis.
