A woman from Lucknow's Mohanlalganj area has turned her entrepreneurial dream into reality with the help of the Uttar Pradesh government's Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan Yojana, becoming an example of how financial support schemes can help women become self-reliant.

Vandana Yadav, who earlier faced financial difficulties, used assistance under the scheme to set up a mustard oil mill and build a steady source of income for her family.

Vandana said her family's financial condition was not stable earlier. Her husband worked as a driver, and managing household expenses was difficult, especially with the responsibilities of a large family. She lives with her husband, in-laws and three sisters-in-law, while her maternal family includes her mother and two brothers.

After learning about the state government's entrepreneurship scheme, Vandana applied for assistance and received financial support of Rs 5 lakh along with guidance to start her business.

With the help of the loan, she and her husband established a mustard oil mill in 2025. The unit now produces pure mustard oil, which is supplied to markets in nearby villages and districts.

Vandana said the business has transformed her life. From struggling with financial constraints, she now earns a monthly profit of around Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000.

The venture has also helped her husband move away from driving work and become actively involved in running the business. The couple is now working to expand the unit, while also creating employment opportunities for others in the area.

Vandana's journey from a homemaker in a rural area to an entrepreneur has inspired other women in the region to explore self-employment opportunities.
