UP man, wife murder her lover, behead him, dismember and burn body parts; arrested

The Uttar Pradesh Police cracked a chilling murder case after a beheaded skeleton was found near the Rind river last week. The investigation revealed a woman, along with her husband, plotted and executed the brutal killing of her lover over an affair.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Anoop Singh, addressing a press conference, said on July 9, that police recovered a headless skeleton in Fatehpur district.

With the help of social media and local inputs, the victim was identified as 32-year-old Rahul Patel. Investigations revealed that Rahul was in a relationship with 38-year-old Sarita, who was already married. Her husband, Rambhavan (40), grew suspicious of the affair and confronted her.

On July 2, Sarita lured Rahul to their home. Once inside, Rambhavan strangled him with a rope. The couple then used sharp tools, including a sickle and a saw, to dismember the body. They burned the remains near the Rind river and disposed of the head separately to avoid identification.

During the probe, police recovered crucial evidence, including the murder weapons, parts of the victim's motorcycle, a broken mobile phone, glasses, a belt and strands of hair.

Both Sarita and Rambhavan were arrested. The police found that both of them had previous criminal cases registered against them.

SP Anoop Singh confirmed that the accused confessed during interrogation and led the police to the crime scene and disposal sites.
