The Uttar Pradesh government has drawn up a comprehensive schedule of academic and co-curricular activities for secondary schools in July, aiming to promote students’ overall development alongside regular classroom teaching.

Under the initiative, schools across the state will carry out programmes focused on academics, digital learning, health, environmental awareness, career guidance and personality development, in line with the academic calendar. The government said the effort is intended to make secondary education more holistic by combining classroom learning with activities that build leadership, life skills and social responsibility.

According to the academic calendar, schools will continue regular teaching as per the prescribed syllabus while simultaneously completing key administrative and academic tasks. Admission-related work for Classes 9 to 12 will be finalised, and applications for the Uttar Pradesh Board examinations will be processed after verification of details of students in Classes 10 and 12. Students of Class 11 will also be registered through the Pancham Portal.

The government will also conduct Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training sessions and process scholarship applications to ensure that eligible students can benefit from various welfare schemes.

The first unit test for students of Classes 9 to 12 will be held in the second week of July. The assessment will include homework assigned during the summer break as well as multiple-choice questions covering the syllabus taught from April to the first week of July. Officials said the tests are aimed at monitoring learning outcomes and improving the quality of education.

Schools will organise several awareness programmes during the month, including activities marking National Doctors’ Day, the Special Communicable Disease Control and Dastak Abhiyan, Van Mahotsav, Road Safety Awareness Campaign and career counselling through psychometric tests. These programmes are expected to encourage awareness about health, environmental conservation, road safety and future career planning.

As part of the monthly calendar, schools will also hold Parent-Teacher Association meetings and constitute executive committees. Under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme, students will learn about the culture, traditions and folk art of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.

Scout and Guide activities, yoga sessions, sports events, morning assembly-based motivational programmes and digital learning initiatives will also be organised to promote discipline, teamwork, leadership and active participation among students.

Director of Secondary Education Pratap Singh Baghel said the July academic calendar has been designed to ensure students receive quality education while also developing practical skills, digital competence and opportunities for holistic growth. He said the department is working to ensure its effective implementation across all secondary schools in the state.
