What began as a lively wedding celebration in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur took an unusual turn — with blaring DJ music from a baraat allegedly leading to the death of 140 chickens at a nearby poultry farm.
The incident occurred in Dariyapur village under the Baldirai police station area on April 25, when a wedding procession passed through the locality with high-volume music.
According to police and locals, the baraat had arrived from Ram Bhadra Purwa village in the Kudwar area for the wedding of a local resident’s daughter. As the procession made its way through the village, a DJ system playing at high volume passed directly in front of a poultry farm owned by Sabir Ali.
Ali alleged that the deafening sound triggered panic among the birds, creating chaos inside the farm. In the commotion, around 140 chickens reportedly died due to shock.
Following the incident, Ali filed a complaint with the police.
Taking cognisance of the matter, Sub-Inspector Bharat Singh registered a case against the DJ operator, identified as Kavi Yadav, a resident of Parsipur in the Kudwar area.
Police said an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the deaths and examine whether excessive noise levels during the procession played a role.
The incident has drawn local attention for its unusual nature, raising concerns over loud music at weddings and its impact not just on residents, but also on animals.
