An 18-year-old woman in Kaushambi allegedly died by suicide after her mother objected to her speaking with her fiance over the phone. Police intervened as the family was taking the body for last rites and have sent it for post-mortem.

A tragic incident has been reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, where an 18-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after being stopped by her mother from speaking to her fiance.
According to information, Munna Saroj had fixed the marriage of his daughter, Laxmi Saroj, which was scheduled for November this year. Laxmi was reportedly in regular phone contact with her fiance.
Family members said her mother objected to these conversations and asked her to stop. Upset over the restriction, Laxmi allegedly hanged herself inside the house. Her family members found her hanging, triggering chaos in the household.
According to police, the family was attempting to carry out the last rites in haste, allegedly out of fear of police action. However, upon receiving information, a police team reached the spot, took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Police officer Satendra Tiwari, confirmed that the woman died by suicide by hanging. “The family was taking the body for last rites. On receiving information, police reached the spot, took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further necessary action is being taken,” he said.
Police said an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death is underway.
