Urmila Matondkar recalls hilarious 'Mujhe Pyar Hua' memory; 'I kept looking for places to eat cheese'

Actor Urmila Matondkar took a nostalgic trip down memory lane during an episode of India's Best Dancer Season 5. She recalled her experience of filming the popular song Mujhe Pyar Hua Allamiya from the 1997 romantic drama 'Judaai'.While interacting on the show, the actress shared a light-hearted behind-the-scenes story from the film's Switzerland schedule. She also spoke about working alongside Sridevi and Anil Kapoor, two of Hindi cinema's biggest stars.

Recalling the filming experience, Urmila admitted that she initially found the film's concept unusual and was also nervous about performing alongside Sridevi.She said, "Actually, this film had already become a big hit in the South. But when I went to do this film, I found this thought so funny and so strange that I thought, how will I do this scene?"She added, "On top of that, I had to perform in front of the one and only Sridevi, before whom even seasoned actors would get nervous.

And there was the one and only legendary Anil Kapoor ji as well. During the shoot of this song, because I love cheese so much, I spent half the time in Switzerland looking for places to eat."Directed by Raj Kanwar, Judaai featured Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Urmila Matondkar in the lead roles. The film also starred Kader Khan, Farida Jalal, Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal, Upasana Singh, and Saeed Jaffrey in important supporting roles.

Poonam Dhillon made a special appearance.The soundtrack was composed by the celebrated duo Nadeem-Shravan, while Sameer penned the lyrics.The album became one of the biggest musical successes of 1997. It reportedly sold nearly two million units and ranked among the year's best-selling Bollywood soundtrack albums.

'Mujhe Pyar Hua Allamiya' remains a fan favourite

Among the songs from the film, "Mujhe Pyar Hua Allamiya" continues to enjoy lasting popularity with audiences.The track was sung by Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet and became one of the standout songs from the soundtrack. The album also featured several memorable numbers, including Judaai Judaai, popularly known as Mujhe Ek Pal Chain Na Aaye, along with other songs.Urmila Matondkar has appeared only occasionally on screen in recent years, but she continues to be remembered for several memorable performances from the 1990s and early 2000s.Her last full-length acting role was in the 2014 Marathi adventure drama 'Ajoba'.
