A US official has said the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran has “at least temporarily ceased" after the United States launched a fresh round of strikes on Iran overnight.
Speaking to CNN, the official said the situation remained “very dynamic" and warned that more military action could follow.
The official said the latest operation targeted Iranian missiles, drones and facilities near the Strait of Hormuz that could threaten US forces and commercial shipping. The strikes were carried out by both US naval and land-based forces.
The remarks came as US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed it had begun “additional strikes" to further reduce Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil shipping routes.
