Weeks after his public spat with US President Donald Trump, tech billionaire Elon Musk doubled down on his criticism of the White House’s “Big Beautiful Bill", calling it “utterly insane" and “political suicide".

Earlier this month, Trump and Musk engaged in a bitter feud over the massive spending bill, with the Tesla boss accusing the president of ingratitude and Trump threatening to take government contracts from Musk. The bitter spat cooled off after Musk publicly apologised and deleted several posts, one linking Trump’s name to the Jeffrey Epstein files.

However, Musk – who turned 54 on Saturday – targeting the Big Beautiful Bill once again in a series of social media posts ahead of a critical vote on which the Trump agenda hinges. “The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!" he said.

“Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future," Musk added.

In a subsequent post, Musk said polls showed this bill would be a “political suicide for the Republican Party". He also said the bill would raise the debt ceiling by $5 trillion, putting America in the “fast lane to debt slavery".

Good question. Who?At the same time, this bill raises the debt ceiling by $5 TRILLION, the biggest increase in history, putting America in the fast lane to debt slavery! https://t.co/6WxVgt9pRl

Senate members are prepared to take a procedural vote by late afternoon on Saturday (local time) to kick off debate on the multi-trillion-dollar bill that makes Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent, ends taxation on tips and overtime, boosts border security funding and scraps green-energy tax credits passed during the Biden administration, as per the New York Post.

However, the Bill remains stalled as Democrats obstructed the process by demanding an out-loud reading of the 940-page document by clerks before the debate. Trump has warned that not passing the bill would be an “ultimate betrayal" to the country.

The president also publicly blasted North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis Saturday night for voting against his tax-and-spending bill.
