A student of the Veterinary College of Hassan was found dead on the railway track on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Hoshiyar Singh, 21, a native of Haryana. It is suspected to be a case of suicide.
The student joined the college in 2024 and was about to appear for the annual board examinations, scheduled to begin on August 26.
According to the college, Singh stayed with his friends outside the campus. He had been irregular to classes for the last two months.
The college staff and the railway police have informed his parents in Haryana. The police were waiting for the family members to identify the deceased and register a formal complaint, for further procedures.
