After an FIR was registered against eight people in Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft allegations, Alok Kumar, International President of Visva Hindu Parishad said Champat Rai said is not a VHP representative and he should be investigated.

Speaking to CNN-NEWS18, Kumar said, “FIR also says that other than 8 people others should also be investigated. In my opinion, Champat Rai should also be investigated.

Earlier in the day, Rai quit as the general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust following allegations of theft and misappropriation of devotees’ donations at the Ram temple.

According to media reports, Rai resigned to ensure a free and fair investigation, even though there are no allegations against him personally.

The development comes after an SIT submitted its preliminary report to the Uttar Pradesh government and an FIR was registered against eight individuals in connection with the alleged theft and embezzlement of cash and valuables donated to the temple.

Among those named in the FIR is Tinnu Yadav, who previously worked as a driver for Champat Rai and was allegedly involved in the functioning of temple affairs after the consecration of the idol.
