Victor Wembanyama has given San Antonio Spurs fans a big reason to smile. While many NBA stars are changing teams this offseason, the French star made it clear that he wants to stay in San Antonio.

Victor Wembanyama’s message gives San Antonio Spurs fans hope about his future
Wembanyama shared his short but powerful message on Friday. Even though the Spurs have not officially announced a new contract, many believe the post shows that the 22 year old wants to spend the coming years with the franchise. According to AFP, Wembanyama is eligible to sign a five year rookie extension worth up to $251 million. If he reaches certain performance goals, the total value could go beyond $300 million. There is also talk that Wembanyama could accept less than the maximum deal. That would give the Spurs more room to keep other talented players and build a stronger team around him. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the idea has already become a major talking point around the NBA.
His message comes just weeks after a tough end to the season. The Spurs reached the 2026 NBA Finals for the first time since 2014 but lost the championship series to the New York Knicks. Even after that disappointment, Wembanyama’s latest post shows he is focused on winning a title with San Antonio instead of looking elsewhere.
Victor Wembanyama continues to lead the Spurs after a standout 2025 26 NBA season
Wembanyama was one of the NBA’s best players throughout the season. He averaged 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, a league best 3.1 blocks and 1.0 steal per game. His all around performances helped San Antonio finish with a 62 and 20 record before making a deep playoff run. His season also earned him unanimous NBA Defensive Player of the Year honors. On top of that, he was named to the All NBA First Team and finished among the league’s top MVP candidates, showing just how quickly he has become one of basketball’s biggest stars. Across his first three NBA seasons, Wembanyama has averaged 23.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.5 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. Those numbers already put him among the league’s elite players, and his latest message suggests he wants to build the rest of his career in San Antonio. Whether the contract is announced soon or later this offseason, Spurs fans now have a clear reason to believe their franchise player is committed to the team’s future.
