Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Vaiko on Sunday said that the entry of actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam founder Vijay into politics would in no way affect the DMK-led “secular alliance”.

The DMK alliance would again achieve a landslide in the 2026 assembly elections and the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam would not be in a position to muster strength to block this emphatic win, Mr. Vaiko said.

Mr. Vaiko told presspersons in Tiruchi that although Mr. Vijay’s foray into politics had created an impact, it would, however, not affect the DMK alliance which remained intact. What kind of impact Vijay’s entry into politics would create could be said only after the poll results, Mr. Vaiko said.

Asked about the election campaign of Mr. Vijay in Tiruchi on Saturday, Mr. Vaiko said the former was a film star with a huge fan following. However, things would not be the same in the electoral field, Mr. Vaiko said and claimed that the victory of the DMK-led alliance was bound to happen.

To a question, Mr. Vaiko said the DMK government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, had not only fulfilled most of the poll promises, but had implemented numerous schemes which were not announced in the run up to the Assembly election.
