After weeks of legal tussle and uncertainty, KVN Productions, the makers of Vijay's Jana Nayagan, have submitted the film to the Revising Committee (RC) of the Central Board of Film Certification. The move seems to indicate that they are keen on resolving the censorship row and securing the film's theatrical release at the earliest given that the Election Commission of India might announce the poll schedule for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by the end of February or early March. As we had told earlier, once elections are announced and the Model Code of Conduct comes into force, the film’s release would have to be postponed, as it may be viewed as a potential propaganda tool for Vijay’s newly launched political party. Industry sources tell us that the team is aiming for a February 20 release now, and the production house is expected to withdraw its petition from the Madras High Court once the certificate is issued.
