Shortly after taking the oath as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Thalapathy Vijay signed his first order to provide 200 free units of electricity.

Vijay made the announcements after Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar left the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai after the completion of the swearing-in ceremony.

In his speech, he said, “I assure every woman in this state that their safety will be a top priority, and immediate action will be taken against crimes targeting women. Those affected by drugs will not be abandoned. We will work to rescue and rehabilitate them and build a healthier society."

Vijay highlighted that Tamil Nadu is facing a debt of nearly Rs 10 lakh crore and said his government will release a white paper for a transparent government, informing the public about the current state of Tamil Nadu.

“Only after entering the administration can one truly understand the situation and the challenges before us. But I want to take Tamil Nadu forward with honesty and determination," he added.

The Chief Minister called on the people to support his government.

“I don’t know how to begin or what to say at this emotional moment. I did not come from a prince’s family. I came from among you like a member of your family, like your brother. You embraced me with love and gave me a great place in the cinema… Every pain and hurdle I faced, you felt it as your own and stood beside me throughout this journey. I am not a messenger from God. I am just a normal human being. But when people stand together with me, I believe we can achieve anything and face every challenge together, whatever comes."
