Vijayendra visits Naregal after clash

Haveri: BJP state president Vijayendra has sharply criticised the state govt and the police department over the assault that took place during the Karahunnime festival in Naregal village of Hangal taluk.Speaking to the media on Tuesday evening after interacting with victims of Naregal violence, he alleged that youths from the Halumatha community were brutally attacked over the issue of bursting firecrackers to scare bulls and said those involved in the incident have still not been arrested. Instead, he claimed, cases are being filed against Hindu activists and they are being intimidated. He accused the police of acting like puppets of the ruling party, saying the police station has turned into a Congress office.He also alleged that Bajrang Dal members and cow protectors in Haveri district are being harassed through unnecessary cases. Vijayendra warned that the accused responsible for the incident must be arrested immediately, failing which public anger could escalate, and the govt and police department would be held responsible.
