Nicolo Zaniolo, once hailed as a rising star of Italian football, has landed in hot water after a series of shocking incidents during a youth match between Fiorentina and AS Roma.

The 26-year-old, who featured in the Primavera semi-final, reportedly punched Mattia Almaviva and shoved Marco Litti violently against a bench.

The controversy didn’t stop there. Zaniolo allegedly urinated inside the club’s facilities, further fueling outrage.

According to Sky Italia, the Italian Football Federation has reached an agreement with the parties involved and imposed a €15,000 fine on the player for his misconduct.

Zaniolo was once considered one of Italy’s most promising prospects, making his international debut as a teenager in 2019.

Unfortunately, injuries have hindered his career. He has not played for Italy since missing last year’s European Championship due to a metatarsal fracture sustained while on loan at Aston Villa during the second-to-last match of the season.

Both clubs finished next to each other, with Roma taking the fifth spot with 69 points while Fiorentina took 65 points, placing them sixth in the standings, with the former securing Europa League football while the latter will take part in the Conference League.

Zaniolo’s loan spell with Fiorentina ended on a disappointing note, with the Italian star being unable to score a single goal in his nine appearances for the club, and he is set to once again go back to his parent club.
