Violence over power cut in Greater Noida society: Eco Village 1 residents assaulted by security guards; accused held

NEW DELHI: Chaos and violence prevailed at Supertech Eco Village 1 in Greater Noida West after security personnel and maintenance staff allegedly assaulted residents with sticks and batons who urged them to restore electricity supply in the society.Videos from the spot showed that the residents were kicked, punched and thrashed with batons on Thursday evening. As per the media report, the power supply had been interrupted for several hours in the housing society following which several residents approached the security office seeking answers and restoration.

What began as a peaceful complaint reportedly turned violent when security guards and onsite maintenance staff started assaulting the residents.

"In the Bisrakh police station area, a dispute and scuffle broke out between residents and the maintenance team at Eco Village 1 society over an electricity issue. Bisrakh police have registered an FIR and taken those involved in the assault into custody. Further necessary action is being taken." DCP Central Noida posted on X.
