Vital Arunachal road reopens partially to LMVs

Itanagar: Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) were temporarily allowed to ply through the Magi block point on Likabali–Basar-Aalo road, a vital road in the state, on Tuesday evening, providing partial relief to commuters after traffic was disrupted by adverse road conditions, officials said.Authorities said the route was yet to be completely safe for unrestricted travel. Movement is being permitted only during dry weather, and motorists have been advised not to use the stretch during rainfall due to landslides.“Travellers are requested to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the safety advisory, and plan their journeys accordingly until full restoration work is completed and the road is declared safe for all-weather traffic,” an official statement said.Meanwhile, All Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (AAPBOCWWB) chairman, Rolen Dagam on Wednesday, visited a flood relief camp at the NEEPCO complex to meet affected families and distribute aid. Dagam distributed labour kits, blankets, kitchen sets, raincoats and umbrellas to registered construction workers who had been affected by the recent floods.“Although there is no specific provision under the Board to provide such relief, this assistance has been extended purely on humanitarian grounds to support our people in distress,” Dagam said.
