Stating that a clean city is the collective responsibility of all citizens, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M. on Saturday urged parents and educational institutions to cultivate civic responsibility among students.
The Commissioner, in a press release, stated that after the completion of various examinations in the city recently, it was observed that some students had thrown question papers and torn paper pieces onto the roads. He expressed concern that such actions were severely affecting the cleanliness of the city.
He further stated that the paper waste accumulating on roads was not only an unpleasant sight, but was also placing an additional burden on sanitation workers who are striving to keep the city clean. “This situation is making their work more difficult,” he said.
The Commissioner appealed to parents and managements of educational institutions to issue clear instructions to students. They should be educated not to throw question papers or other paper waste on the roads and instead dispose of them in the dustbins.
Emphasising that maintaining city cleanliness, safeguarding public health, and ensuring a safe environment are collective responsibilities, the Commissioner said fostering civic sense among students is essential. He called upon everyone to cooperate in maintaining a clean and healthy urban environment.
