VMC mulls bringing water from Andra reservoir to meet water needs of city

Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation is planning to bring Champavati river water from Andra reservoir of Gajapathinagaram constituency to meet the water needs of residents of the city. Earlier the city witnessed acute water shortage during summer season.

Vizianagaram consumes 47 million litres per day but the availability is said to be below 35 million litres per day during April and May months. To resolve this, the civic body is planning to bring the water from Andra reservoir after taking prior permission from Irrigation Department.
