Metropolitan commissioner N. Tej Bharat chaired a meeting with engineering officials and contractors held at the ‘Deck’ building
Visakhapatnam: VMRDA has developed a dedicated mobile application, Nirman, to enhance transparency and efficiency in engineering works. According to officials, the app will act as a bridge between engineering officials and contractors, enabling seamless management of project proposals, tendering, work allocation, progress monitoring, quality inspections, and fund disbursement.
Contractors will be able to upload daily progress reports with photographs, while officials can verify the updates and release payments through e-banking. The application will also incorporate artificial intelligence technology and support paperless governance, reducing delays and minimising the need for repeated visits to the engineering department.Metropolitan commissioner N. Tej Bharat chaired a meeting with engineering officials and contractors held at the ‘Deck’ building. He said that a significant portion of the VMRDA budget is allocated to engineering works and that numerous development projects are being executed across the three districts under VMRDA’s jurisdiction. Stressing the importance of transparency and accountability, he said the authority is adopting advanced technology to ensure smooth monitoring of projects and timely release of funds.
Tej Bharat added that feedback and suggestions from engineers and contractors would be incorporated before the Nirman App is formally launched in July.
