Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday (July 21, 2025) welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Karnataka High Court judgment, which quashed the ED notice in the MUDA case.
A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s office said the verdict was “a resounding slap on the face of the Central Government’s vendetta politics”.
The Supreme Court on Monday cautioned the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) about being “used” to fight “political battles” even as it dismissed appeals filed by the Central agency against a Karnataka High Court decision to set aside money-laundering charges against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi and State Minister Byrathi Suresh in connection with allotment of sites by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
“The Supreme Court’s historic verdict rejecting the Enforcement Directorate’s appeal to investigate my wife, Smt. Parvathi, in connection with the MUDA site allotment case is a resounding slap on the face of the Central Government’s vendetta politics. This verdict has not only exposed the malice behind the case but has also unequivocally cleared our names of all the baseless allegations,” the statement said.

— CM of Karnataka (@CMofKarnataka) July 21, 2025While welcoming the verdict delivered by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, heading a Bench comprising Justice Vinod Chandran, the CM also hit out at the Opposition BJP, accusing it of orchestrating a political witch-hunt by misusing constitutional agencies like the CBI and ED to target him and his family.
“Unable to defeat me politically, the @BJP4India and its allies stooped to misusing constitutional agencies like the CBI and ED to fabricate baseless cases against my wife and harass my family. This is not just an abuse of power but also a disgraceful and cowardly act. The mental agony we have been subjected to will forever remain a painful chapter in our lives,” he said.
“This verdict restores faith in the judiciary, especially among all those who have fallen victim to the BJP’s political witch-hunt using IT, CBI, and ED over the past 10–11 years, he added.
The statement urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to stop weaponising constitutional agencies for political gain, and restore the autonomy of these institutions.
The CM also demanded a public apology from BJP and JD(S) leaders in Karnataka who, he said, had “relentlessly hurled fabricated allegations at me and my family in connection with the MUDA case.”
