Volkswagen India has announced that it will be passing on the complete advantage of GST 2.0 to buyers, making its entire range more affordable from September 22, 2025. This comes in response to the government’s recent move to overhaul taxation on passenger vehicles by eliminating the additional cess and introducing a uniform GST rate. With this revision, Volkswagen joins a growing list of carmakers offering substantial price reductions, ramping up competition in the midsize and premium segments. Earlier, passenger vehicles attracted a combined tax of around 48–50 per cent (including cess), but under the new system, the rate has been simplified to a flat 40 per cent directly reducing ex-showroom costs. The brand has confirmed price benefits across its portfolio which includes the Virtus, Taigun, and the Tiguan R-Line.
Depending on the variant, the Virtus will see savings of up to Rs 66,900, while the Taigun gets reductions of up to Rs 68,400. The biggest benefit is reserved for the Tiguan R-Line, which is now cheaper by as much as Rs 3,26,900. Beyond GST-related cuts, Volkswagen is also rolling out additional limited-period offers, ranging from Rs 1.61 lakh on select Taigun trims to Rs 3 lakh on the Tiguan R-Line.The VW Tiguan R-Line is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine with 190 PS of power and 320 nm torque. Both Virtus and Taigun are offered with two engine options - a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine which puts out 148bhp of power and 250Nm torque. It comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox or a manual transmission.
