District Congress president Maripi Vidayasagar on Monday strongly condemned the arrest of Opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Parliament member Priyanka Gandhi and other senior opposition leaders during the when protest organised in New Delhi in regards to the alleged large-scale discrepancies in voters list and unprecedented malpractices in elections held in Maharashtra, Karnataka and other States.
In a press release, Mr. Vidyasagar said: “Mr. Rahul Gandhi’s relentless fight against the alleged collusion between the ruling BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) has brought national attention to the issue of vote theft.”
Mr. Vidyasagar who is an advocate by profession asked the ECI to respond to the questions raised by Mr. Rahul Gandhi instead of asking him about oaths and declarations. He further added that crucial CCTV footage, which is considered key evidence was destroyed to suppress the facts about the fake voters in Mahadevapura and other constituencies.
