Wall collapse at cement plant leaves two workers critically injured

Dharwad: Two labourers were seriously injured, and several others sustained minor injuries after a wall collapsed at the UltraTech Cement factory in the Dharwad Industrial Estate on Thursday night.

According to sources at the factory, 14 labourers were working near the structure when the wall suddenly gave way. “Raju Matur and Ramesh, both hailing from Bihar, suffered severe injuries and were shifted to the intensive care unit at the District Hospital in Dharwad. Other workers who sustained minor injuries were rescued by colleagues and residents,” sources said. Hospital sources said the injured labourers are now out of danger and recovering. Personnel from Garag police station visited the spot and registered a case. “We are investigating the cause of the incident,” police said .

Further investigation is under way.
