'Wanted to live together': MP youth, friend kill 'mom' for opposing homosexual relationship; held

BHOPAL: A homosexual couple in their early 20s was arrested for allegedly killing a 46-year-old woman -- step mother of one of the accused -- for objecting to their relationship in MP's Sagar district.

The incident took place on Aug 22 and both accused were soon rounded up.Police said the deceased, Sadhna, used to rebuke her stepson Ajay (21) and his 23-year-old male partner Rahul alias Dev Yadav for flaunting their relationship in public which, she felt, had become a cause of embarrassment to the family. The bitterness in the family grew further when Sadhna learnt that Ajay and Rahul wanted to live together and lead their own life.

What enraged her further was that Ajay demanded money from his father to stay with his partner, away from home. Youth flees with jewellery, cash after killing stepmom Enraged by her persistent rebukes and refusal to help monetarily, Rahul and Ajay planned her murder in April this year. But, they could execute the plan on Aug 22, when Ajay's father Narayan was away and only Sadhna and Ajay were home.Ajay, along with Rahul, strangled her to death in their home in Gopalganj. After killing Sadhna, they fled with jewellery and cash.

When the husband returned home, he found the main door open and Sadhna lying dead.Narayan told police there had been an argument between Sadhna and Ajay earlier in the day, but he had managed to pacify them before he left home.Sagar SP Vikas Sahwal said the two were traced to Siroj in Vidisha district through CCTV footage and mobile phone locations and call records. "He was in constant touch with Rahul, a resident of Dewas," Sahwal said.During interrogation, they confessed to the murder. Police said they first assaulted Sadhna and then strangled her. Ajay allegedly told police that his stepmother repeatedly objected to his friendship with Rahul. "She always interfered in my life. That is why I decided to kill her," he told police.
