Watch: Landslide hits Vaishno Devi yatra route in Jammu and Kashmir; battery car service suspended

JAMMU: Heavy rainfall triggered a landslide on the Vaishno Devi yatra route atop the Trikuta Hills in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Wednesday evening, leading to the temporary suspension of the battery car service, officials said.The landslide occurred near Himkoti on the new track to the shrine after intense rain, prompting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board to deploy personnel and machinery to clear the debris.

Despite the disruption, the pilgrimage remained unaffected, with hundreds of devotees continuing their journey to and from the shrine via the old track, officials said.The battery car service has been suspended until the route is cleared, they added.(With PTI inputs)
