Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his signature Republic Day tradition on Monday, wearing a striking red safa at the 77th Republic Day celebrations on Kartavya Path, New Delhi. For over a decade, Modi has chosen unique, region-inspired, and colorful turbans to mark Independence and Republic Day, making his headgear a highlight of national ceremonies.
The red turban, symbolising tradition and vibrancy, complemented the festive atmosphere as crowds gathered to witness the parade. PM Modi began the day by paying tribute to India's fallen heroes with a wreath-laying at the National War Memorial before joining President Droupadi Murmu and other dignitaries at the saluting dais at Kartavya Path.
The parade, which began at 10.30 am and will run for around 90 minutes, showcased India's cultural diversity, development journey, and military might, including newly raised units and mock-ups of major weapon systems from Operation Sindoor. This year's celebrations will also honor 150 years of Vande Mataram.
