KERALA: A woman was injured after a wild boar entered her mini supermarket and attacked her in Kerala's Ranni, Pathanamthitta district on Sunday morning.The incident took place at around 8.30 am when the wild boar, believed to have wandered out of a nearby forest, ran into the roadside shop. The woman identified as Beena, a shop owner, suffered a serious injury to her hand during the attack.CCTV footage captured the animal rushing into the shop and attacking Beena. She was seen running out in panic as the wild boar charged at her.Residents rushed to the shop after hearing her cries for help. The animal then ran out onto the busy road before escaping from the area."I had just opened the shop and was arranging the items when the wild boar suddenly came inside and attacked me.
It was completely unexpected. I tried to stop it with my hands," Beena said.She said the injury required three stitches.A local resident said wild boars have become a growing problem in the area, but added that this was the first time one had entered a shop during the daytime.He also accused the Forest Department of failing to take effective action despite repeated complaints about wild animals entering residential areas.Police said the local panchayat has the authority to cull wild boars under the existing rules and that steps are being taken in this regard.
