Malayalam actor Lenaa revealed her first marriage, a childhood romance that lasted until she was thirty, ended amicably. She described the divorce as a practical, mutual decision driven by differing life approaches and maturity levels. Post-divorce, Lenaa found independence and rebuilt her life from scratch, emphasizing their continued friendship.
Lenaa has always been open about her spiritual journey and now the talented Malayalam actor has opened up about her first marriage and divorce. In a conversation with anchor Ranjini Haridas, Lenaa said her first marriage was rooted in a childhood romance.
She described how the connection began when she was in sixth grade.Lenaa shared, “My relationship that began when I was 12 ended when I turned 30.” She added that both she and her then-partner believed marriage was the natural step forward because the bond had lasted for many years. Over time Lenaa realised they were growing at different speeds. She explained that the emotional clarity she had at thirty helped her understand what the relationship had become.
Lenaa recalls her divorce at 30
Lenaa said the decision to end the marriage was not emotional and described it as clear and mutual.“I got divorced when I was thirty. It was a practical decision.” The actress added that she married at 23 after many years of friendship. They enjoyed each other’s company. Yet the gap between their approaches to life grew wider with time. She said the separation happened without conflict or hostility.According to Lena, the couple finalised the decision in a calm moment: “We separated after eating a gulab jamun together.”
The 'Valathu Vashathe Kallan' actor explained that this moment symbolised the peaceful nature of their parting. The lack of drama made the process easier for both sides and also helped them stay connected as friends even after the divorce was complete.
Why the couple stayed close after separation?
Lenaa emphasised that the bond between them did not disappear: “We are still friends. I met my ex-husband recently too.” She described how they grew in different directions, which affected their married life.
Lenaa further said that their interests slowly moved apart and stressed that maturity levels also shaped the way they viewed responsibilities.The actor said, “Women reach maturity quickly. But on the other side, there was a teenage mind that wanted to do fun things.” She added that her former partner enjoyed a carefree approach to life and explained that his attitude was, “Why take life so seriously, why buy a flat or house, let’s just relax and go with the flow.”
Life after divorce: Lenaa says independence reshaped her
Lenaa talked about how the divorce changed her lifestyle. She said, “After the divorce, I became self-sufficient.” She described how she had no financial security during the marriage. She said the separation pushed her to rebuild from the ground up. She added, “I planned my life from scratch.” The experience helped her form a stronger sense of stability.The actress has also spoken earlier about the same first marriage. In a 2023 interview, she described it as the “friendliest divorce ever”. Lenaa later married Prashanth Balakrishnan, who is known as the captain of India’s Gaganyaan mission.On the work front, Lenaa was last seen in Jeethu Joseph's 'Valathu Vashathe Kallan'.
