Logan Ryan, a two-time Super Bowl winner, was astonished to learn that a headband he wore during his NFL career might have sent his Brain information to the Chinese government. During a Pablo Torre Finds Out interview in September 2025, Ryan addressed this.

Made by BrainCo, a Chinese company, the equipment registered his brainwaves every half-second. Under Chinese law, BrainCo could have to provide the government information because it is a Chinese firm. Ryan confessed he never learned this while wearing the headband.

Logan Ryan used BrainCo headband during NFL career

Logan Ryan played as a cornerback in the NFL and won two Super Bowls with Tom Brady’s New England Patriots. He said he started using the BrainCo headband, called FocusCalm, to help his mind stay calm during stressful games.

He even appeared in a BrainCo commercial in 2022.Ryan explained that the device worked through an app on his phone. He would play a racing game where the car moved faster when he was calm and breathing properly. He said this helped him stay cool in tough moments, like the final two minutes of a close game.

In the interview, Ryan was told that the headband collected his brain signals and sent them for storage. He said:“Nobody on my team could even have thought this was possible.

That’s all pretty alarming to me. I definitely need to look into that.”Ryan retired from football in 2024. After the interview, a representative for Ryan contacted Torre again to say Ryan was “unbelievably freaked out” by the information.

BrainCo Denies Sharing Data with Military or Government

Pablo Torre told Ryan that BrainCo has ties to investors connected with China’s Communist Party and, by extension, the Chinese military. The company said:“We have no collaboration with any kind of military in any country.”On its FocusCalm website, BrainCo added that none of its products send raw brain data to company servers. The company said all data is processed on the user’s device and deleted after each session.Still, Ryan worried about the risks of using such devices. He said:“Who knows what that information could be used for. We need a right to protect ourselves from that.”Ryan, who recorded interceptions against stars like Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning, credited FocusCalm for helping his later career. But the idea that his personal brain data might have been shared left him disturbed and cautious about modern technology.
