“We were ready to get pregnant’: ‘Love is Blind’ star Devonta Anderson on embracing fatherhood

The recent reunion episode of ‘Love Is Blind 10’ aired on 11th March has taken the internet by storm. The main reason being Devonta Anderson’s revelation of his relationship and family planning.

The reality show star revealed during the episode that he's now engaged and expecting a baby with his fiancée of seven months. The revelation may come across as a shocker to many, but the star revealed in an interaction with Entertainment Weekly that he had known his girlfriend for a while, even though they were officially dating for only two months.

From friends to forever: how it all began

The 35-year-old also shared interesting details about his partner.

He revealed that she's from Ohio and that the pair met in college about a decade ago. He described his romance as any other friend-turned-lover's tale. He reunited with his partner years later and clicked instantly. Since then, things have been progressing faster than expected for the duo. “We have always known each other, [but] we've never dated or anything. ... She's always been a friend," he says. "We reconnected, and it was like, 'Wow.'

We look at the timeline and how fast things progressed, but I feel like I've known her my whole life. Whenever these big things have happened in my life, she's been there as a supporting friend,” he said. Further describing his relationship, Devonta said in an interview with E! News that being around his partner felt like being around a friend. He also said that it’s the similarities and differences that have held them together. "It's easy, and that's exactly what I wanted a marriage to feel like," he told E!. "Our lives are so similar, but different at the same time, where it's healthy—you can live your life, I can live my life, we can live them together”, he explained.

When fatherhood came sooner than expected

Speaking about being a father, he said that this new chapter in his life was unexpected and has brought about a positive change. Even though his partner wants him to stay out of it, Devonta is eagerly waiting for this new chapter to start. “We were ready to get pregnant, but we didn't think it's gonna happen fast," he added. "Next thing you know, we're like, 'Here we go. The thing I'm excited about in fatherhood is honestly just being able to do life with my child," he shared. "It's going to be my first time doing this experience and being able to be a teacher." He further described the pregnancy as an unexpected surprise and a blessing both at once and how he has been gearing up to wear the dad hat.

"I don't necessarily think we were planning on doing it as fast as we did," Devonta admitted to Entertainment Weekly. "But this is the biggest blessing ever. I'm ecstatic. It's literally all I think about. I'm always on Pinterest looking at baby clothes, ideas, figuring all that stuff out."

Learning to grow the hard way

The reality star, who was previously engaged to Brittany on Season 10, cited that incompatibility over time had resulted in fault lines in the relationship. The reality show star, however, has embraced this relationship failure as a part of his personal growth. "I wish I could go back and say things a little bit differently or be a little bit more direct, but I think that was part of the growth that I needed, personally," Devonta confessed.
