A wedding celebration turned violent in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior when villagers attacked the groom's family over a refusal to provide money for alcohol.
The incident occurred on March 30. After Mahesh Jatav's wedding, the bride arrived at her new home, and when she was dining along with her family members and some other guests, a few villagers came to the house and asked for money to buy alcohol. Upon being rejected, the angry mob first started abusing and then began assaulting the bride and the family members.
The bride’s mother was among those injured during the assault. She filed a complaint with the local police. Several members of the groom's family also sustained injuries.
The attackers also allegedly looted cash and several other things from the house. Following the incident, tensions escalated between both parties, with guests attempting to intervene and mediate.
The injured had been taken to the nearby hospital, where they received adequate treatment.
Meanwhile, both parties have filed complaints with the police. Based on those complaints, the police are investigating the case and have assured to take action against the accused.
The family and local community await the legal process to ensure resolution of the conflict and recovery from the event.
