Days after he claimed a U.S.-intercepted vessel was carrying a “gift from China to Iran", President Donald Trump on Thursday refused to specify what he was referring to, saying it is “very top secret".

Describing the naval blockade of Iran’s ports as “amazing", Trump said Washington has “complete control".

“That is very top secret… What we have done with the blockade is amazing, and nobody gets through. Nobody wants to get through; nobody’s trying… We have complete control… For Iran to shoot at Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, all the different places, they shot, nobody expected that", he said in a press briefing.

He said Iran’s targeting of the Gulf nations as well as setting mines in the Strait of Hormuz was a “big mistake".

“They thought they would shoot at Israel at all fairness, but you didn’t expect they would be shooting at numerous other countries. I think it was a big mistake. If they’re putting mines down, it’s a big mistake for them, I will say…." Trump stated.

‘Gift From China’

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced the U.S. forces caught a ship, allegedly carrying materials from China bound for Iran.

“We caught a ship yesterday that had some things on it which wasn’t very nice – a gift from China, perhaps, I don’t know," Trump said.

“I was a little surprised, because I have a very good relationship and I thought I had an understanding with President Xi, but that’s all right. That’s the way war goes, right?" he added.

Iran Vows Not To Open Hormuz

As a ceasefire hangs in balance, Iran vowed on Thursday not to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as long as the U.S. continues to block its ports.

Earlier this week, President Trump announced an indefinite extension of the ceasefire, to allow more time for peace talks mediated by Pakistan.
