Comedian Samay Raina on Tuesday declined to comment on allegations linked to derogatory remarks against disabled individuals, telling CNN, “Whatever I have to say, I’ll say in court." Visuals showed Raina arriving at Court 2 of the Supreme Court, where a hearing is scheduled shortly.
Raina, along with fellow comedian Nishant Tanwar and others, has been summoned by the Supreme Court over controversial comments made in a comedy video that allegedly mocked people with disabilities. The top court is set to take up the matter today.
The Supreme Court had taken exception to jokes made by comedian Samay Raina about a differently-abled child, saying it was “disturbed by the allegations", remarks that could deepen his legal troubles. The court’s comments come amid a growing uproar and ongoing hearings over the controversial India’s Got Latent show. Raina, the show’s ideator, is under fire alongside podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia for crude jokes aired on the small screen.
