When Aamir Khan shared touching childhood 'Holi tikka' story about his mother on his 60th birthday

As Aamir Khan turned 60 last year, he embraced the milestone with characteristic candor, reflecting on the beauty of aging while donning his classic black outfit. With a heartwarming nod to Holi, he shared the special connection his birth has with the vibrant festival.

Last year, as the actor who gave us gems like ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ and ‘Lagaan’ celebrated his 60th birthday, he met the media in his signature candid style. Looking back at that cheerful interaction, Aamir had said, “I am glad that the media celebrates my birthday this way.

Birthday se mujhe fark nahin padta. I have turned 60 now!” His lighthearted tone set the mood for the afternoon. At the press conference, a journalist noticed that Aamir tends to wear black on his birthdays. The observation amused him, and he responded with a cheeky explanation. “I usually wear black. Nowadays, I am not fit. Aur aadmi black mein dubla lagta hai!” he joked, proving once again why his off-screen humour is as loved as his performances in films like ‘Dangal’.When asked whether turning 60 felt different, Aamir brushed aside the idea of age weighing him down. “Not really. Even today when I see someone who is 30-40 years old, I address him as ‘uncle’! I think we are all like this. We all feel that we are 18 or 21 years old,” he shared. His perspective reflected a youthful spirit that continues to define his personality.

A birthday that shares a Holi connection

Adding a nostalgic touch, Aamir revealed a special coincidence about his birth.

“60 years ago, when I was born, it was the first day of Holi. Ammi told me that the nurse came and put a tikka on my forehead. Even today is the first day of Holi,” he recalled. The colourful memory made the celebration even more meaningful, much like a festive scene from ‘Rang De Basanti’.

Aamir Khan's work front

On the professional front, Aamir Khan was recently seen in Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, where he made a cameo appearance and also served as the film’s producer.

The Vir Das-starrer has received mixed reviews and a modest box office response. Aamir is next backing Ek Din, starring his son Junaid Khan alongside Sai Pallavi. The film’s teaser was released recently and has generated curiosity among audiences.According to News18, Aamir is reportedly set to play the legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke in an upcoming biopic to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani, though an official announcement is still awaited. He has also confirmed that work has begun on his long-gestating dream project based on the Mahabharat.
