Rashmika Mandanna is one of the most sought-after actors in the nation today. She has always spoken about taking success lightly, and why so.
Rashmika Mandanna has reportedly tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, actor Vijay Deverakonda, in the presence of their family and loved ones in Udaipur. The wedding of VIROSH has become a national event of sorts, with their fans eagerly waiting for the first glimpse of the newlyweds.
Given that Rashmika Mandanna is one of the most sought-after actresses in India, the anticipation is even higher. But did you know, long before the limelight, this bankable star faced financial difficulties.
Rashmika Mandanna on her parents' financial struggles
Rashmika Mandanna has once opened up about the time when her parents struggled financially. Talking to Hindustan Times, the ‘Animal’ actress expressed why she never takes success for granted, “I have been on the other side.
There was a time when we would move homes every two months. I have been conscious of these things (struggles) ever since I was a child.”Mandanna also added how her childhood has moulded her and why she doesn’t take success lightly. “I am taking the liberty of recalling how they used to find it hard to search for a place for us to live and pay the rent. In my heart, I am still that girl who could not even buy a toy,” the actress said.
Mandanna further added, “I respect the money I earn, the love I receive, and the acknowledgement that I get as an actor. My childhood memories don’t let me take my success lightly, because I know this will not last forever."
The quiet sacrifice behind the success
Today, Rashmika Mandanna is one of the most bankable actors in the country. Every film, every product, every brand wants her name and face associated with their projects. But what is the price she pays? Just as any other successful star in the country, she lives out of a suitcase.
Signing some of the biggest contracts means relentless schedules and missing some of the best moments in life. For instance, seeing her baby sister grow up.
Talking to The Nod magazine in 2025, Rashmika Mandanna spoke about how she misses home. “I cry for my off days. I have a sister who is 16 years younger to me; she’s about 13 now. And in the last eight years, since I started working, I haven’t seen her grow up. She’s almost my height now, and I couldn’t even see this journey,” she said. Working around the clock is not that glamorous. “I’ve realised that we’re always going on and on and on. But recently it just shook me to my core—almost in a sad way—that I’m missing out on so much. I haven’t gone home in one and a half years. I don’t get to see my friends. Earlier, they would at least include you in the plans. Now they don’t even do that. And that’s the sad reality,” she added.
What’s next for Rashmika Mandanna?
On the professional front, Rashmika Mandanna was last seen in ‘The Girlfriend’. She starred alongside Dheekshith Shetty and Anu Emmanuel in the Telugu romantic drama. TOI ranked the film 3.5, and the review reads, "This film mirrors the realities of many young women by exposing affection disguised as control with parents and romantic partners and unveiling raw human emotions. With its emotionally powerful storytelling, director Rahul Ravindran crafts a gripping drama that doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable truths of modern relationships.
”Rashmika Mandanna will be next seen in ‘Cocktail 2’, co-starring Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor. The film is a sequel to the 2012 release ‘Cocktail’, which featured Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty, and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.
