Bigg Boss 13 fame Shefali Jariwala passed away on June 27, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest. The news has left her friends and family in deep shock. While further details about her passing are still awaited, a throwback interview of the actress is making the rounds, where she revealed that she experienced her first epileptic seizure at the age of 15.
While speaking to Times of India TV in 2020, Shefali opened up about battling epileptic seizures and how it affected her career.In a throwback interview with The Times of India, TV, Shefali spoke about the challenging period in her life she had shared back then, ""I was 15 years old when I had my first epileptic seizure. Yes, I was an epileptic.I remember being under a lot of pressure to do well in my studies at that time. Stress and anxiety can trigger seizures.
I had seizures in classrooms, backstage, on the road and all of that really affected my confidence.
The medication that I had to take because of the condition caused a lot of weight gain. Shortly after that I did a music video which was a big hit. After that I was really busy with work, dancing all the time. I had to keep my energy levels up and also look good on camera. That's when I realised I need to shed a few kilos and I went to gym for the very first time, so my fitness journey started from there about 20 years ago and it has a whole new meaning today.
This went on for 15 years. Today, I am nine years seizure-free."Tha Kaanta Laga fame actress also went on to talk about the changes she brought in her life post the epilepsy period, "What started 20 years ago with just something for me to lose weight, has become so big for me today. My workout regime is very different from what it used to be at one point of time. Initially, it was cardio, gymming, and heavy weight training. I can now say that it was because of the epilepsy seizures that I couldn’t take up much work. I didn't know when I would get my next seizure…This went on for 15 years. Today, I am nine years seizure-free. I am proud of myself because I managed my depression, panic attacks and anxiety naturally and with the help of a strong support system.
”Shefali worked in several Hindi music videos, reality shows and films. She is best remembered for her iconic music video Kaanta Laga.
