Which Delhi schools and colleges received hoax bomb threats over the last three days? A day-by-day breakdown

In a troubling sequence of events, Delhi witnessed a series of bomb threat hoaxes sent to schools and a college over three consecutive days, from July 14 to 16, 2025. A total of nine threats were sent via email, targeting nine schools and one college, triggering mass evacuations, school closures, and a full-blown security response across the city.Though all threats were eventually declared false alarms, the wave of panic they created has left students, parents, and school authorities shaken, while the Delhi Police’s cyber unit continues to investigate the source of the emails.

Breakdown of events over last 72 hours

Over the past three days, schools and colleges in Delhi have been receiving hoax bomb threats via email. Here’s a run down of what has happened in the last 72 hours:

Day 1: Monday, July 14, 2025

The first round of threats arrived via email early in the morning, targeting three schools:

  • CRPF Public School, Sector 16, Dwarka
  • CRPF School, Prashant Vihar (Rohini Sector 14)
  • Navy Children School, Chanakyapuri

All three institutions were evacuated, and bomb disposal teams conducted detailed searches.

Nothing suspicious was found.

Day 2: Tuesday, July 15, 2025

The scare intensified with fresh threats received by both a prominent school and one of Delhi’s most prestigious colleges:

  • St. Thomas School, Sector 19, Dwarka
  • St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University North Campus
  • Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas

The email to St. Stephen’s College was especially alarming. Sent around 7:15 am, it claimed four IEDs and two RDX explosives had been planted across the campus, with a detonation time of 2 pm. The college and school were promptly evacuated, and Delhi Police, along with bomb squads and fire services, searched the premises.

Again, nothing was found.

Day 3: Wednesday, July 16, 2025

The third consecutive day saw the highest number of threats, with five educational institutions receiving early morning alerts:

  • St. Thomas School, Dwarka (targeted again)
  • Vasant Valley School, Vasant Kunj
  • Mother’s International School, Hauz Khas
  • Richmond Global School, Paschim Vihar
  • Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Lodhi Estate

The threats were reported between 5:26 am and 8:15 am, prompting swift evacuations and the deployment of fire tenders, police units, bomb disposal squads, and dog teams. In every case, the premises were declared safe following thorough inspections.

Investigation and cyber probe underway

Delhi Police have launched multiple FIRs and initiated a cyber forensic investigation to trace the origin of the threat emails.

Initial signs point to the use of VPNs and masked IP addresses, making it harder to track the sender.Police have not ruled out the possibility of a coordinated hoax campaign or a copycat pattern intended to disrupt academic life.

Disruption on campus and impact on students

With classes disrupted and campuses temporarily shut down, students and staff faced repeated evacuations, psychological stress, and uncertainty. Several schools had to cancel in-person learning for the day, while others resorted to early dismissals. Many institutions are now reviewing security protocols, emergency communication systems, and conducting internal training for managing such crises.

Heightened vigilance going forward

  • Delhi Police cyber units are working across districts and coordinating with national-level agencies.
  • School administrations have been asked to report any suspicious digital activity immediately.
  • Security checks around schools have been intensified, and digital surveillance is being enhanced.

Though no physical harm occurred, the series of hoax threats have exposed critical vulnerabilities in digital safety and emergency preparedness in schools. For now, the focus remains on tracking the source and ensuring confidence and calm across the school community.TOI Education is on WhatsApp now. Follow us here.
