Who Are Revati Sule & Sarang Lakhanee? Key Details Ahead Of Big Fat Wedding Of Sharad Pawar’s Granddaughter

Revati Sule and Sarang Lakhanee entered political and social conversations ever since their engagement with confirmations coming from personal posts rather than official announcements. Revati, daughter of NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule, is set to marry Sarang Lakhanee, who comes from a business family based in Nagpur.

The first public confirmation came from Revati’s brother, Vijay Sule, who shared a photograph of the couple on his Instagram Stories. Along with the picture, he wrote, “Congrats sis and bro-in-law,” and added heart and ring emojis to the caption. Shortly after, similar messages followed from people close to the family.

Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde’s daughter, Smruti Shinde, also shared a congratulatory post for the couple. Posting the same photograph, she wrote, “Congratulations…Revati Sule and Sarang Lakhanee,” while tagging Revati, Sarang and Vijay Sule.

Revati Sule is the daughter of Supriya Sule and Sadanand Sule and is the granddaughter of Sharad Pawar. Her mother, Supriya Sule, represents Baramati in the Lok Sabha and is one of the senior leaders of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction. Her grandfather, Sharad Pawar, is a veteran Indian politician who has served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, a role he has held since 2020. He has earlier led Maharashtra as Chief Minister for three separate terms.

On the academic front, Revati has built a strong educational profile. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Economics from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai, in 2020. Following this, she moved abroad to continue her studies. She earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from the London School of Economics.

Although she has not entered active politics, Revati has not remained entirely distant from political activity. She was recently seen during her mother’s campaign in the Baramati Lok Sabha elections. This marked the first time she was visibly present during an election drive.

Sarang Lakhanee, on the other hand, comes from a business background rooted in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He is the son of Arun Lakhanee, who serves as Chairman and Managing Director of the Vishvaraj Group. According to his LinkedIn profile, Sarang is currently working as the Executive Director at the same group. His academic journey began with a B.Com degree from Nagpur University in 2014. He later pursued executive education at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore. This was followed by an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Before joining the family business in a leadership role, Sarang gained experience across different organisations. He interned with Citizens for Accountable Governance during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He later worked as a Development Intern at NITI Aayog. After this, he took on the role of Business Development Consultant at Modern Hydrogen. At Vishvaraj Group, he joined as Lead Project Coordinator in 2017. Within a year, he was promoted to Vice President – Operations and Strategy, and since 2020, he has been serving as Executive Director.

Apart from his professional background, Sarang has also represented India in international sports. He competed in men’s singles badminton tournaments across more than 20 countries between 2010 and 2017. During this period, he participated in 34 international tournaments.

While the engagement has been confirmed, the families have not yet announced the wedding date or venue. CNBC18, citing sources, mentioned that preparations are underway. Reports also suggest that senior leaders, including Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, were involved in discussions related to the match.
