Tottenham Hotspur have named Igor Tudor as interim head coach until the end of the campaign, confirming the appointment on Saturday. The former Juventus manager steps in following the dismissal of Thomas Frank earlier this week, with Spurs sitting just five points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Tudor agreed terms verbally on Friday before the deal was finalised. “It is an honour to join this club at an important moment," Tudor said. “I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear. To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.

“There is strong quality in this playing squad, and my job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly."

The 47-year-old previously revived Juventus’ fortunes in 2024-25, guiding them into the Champions League places after losing just one of his first 11 matches. However, a difficult run this season — eight games without a win — led to his exit in October with the club eighth in Serie A.

Sporting director Johan Lange backed the appointment, saying: “Igor brings clarity, intensity and experience of stepping into challenging moments and producing impact.

“Our objective is straightforward –– to stabilise performances, maximise the quality within the squad and compete strongly in the Premier League and Champions League."

Spurs, already out of the FA Cup, return next weekend for a north London derby against Arsenal.

Everything you need to know about Igor Tudor

Known for his tactical preference for a 3-4-2-1 formation and a high-intensity, aggressive pressing style, Tudor has a reputation as a “firefighter" capable of delivering immediate impact. His previous managerial stops include Juventus, Marseille, and Lazio, where he consistently secured European qualification.

A protégé of the demanding Italian school, Tudor’s philosophy centers on the “electric shock" effect; he famously benches any player, regardless of star status, who fails to maintain his grueling work rate. This rigid “run or you don’t play" mantra helped him save Udinese from relegation twice and led Hellas Verona to a record-equaling scoring season.

Beyond his tactical verticality, he brings a psychological edge, having previously stabilized dressing rooms at top-tier clubs within weeks.
