Narendra Mittal, the matchmaker who set up an alliance between Ketan Agarwal and Siya Goyel for a wedding, was questioned by cops in connection with the alleged murder of the 25-year-old realtor from Maharashtra’s Pune.

On June 18, Ketan Agarwal was reportedly pushed off a cliff at Pune’s Lohagad Fort by his fiancée, Siya Goyel, 20, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, 22.

According to the police, Goyel allegedly pushed her fiancée off the cliff at the Lohagad Fort as she didn’t want to marry him. 

On Friday, the Lonavala Rural Police interrogated Narendra Mittal, the matchmaker who proposed a marriage alliance between Ketan Agarwal and Siya Goyel, sources told CNN-News18. 

Narendra Mittal is the maternal uncle of Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, while Goyel is the daughter of his sister-in-law, Pooja Goyel.

Family Meetup, Then An Engagement

According to Mittal, discussions around Ketan and Siya’s marriage began in January 2026. Subsequently, a meeting was fixed between their families in February 2026 to discuss the prospects of their marriage.

Ketan Agarwal and his family visited Siya Goyel’s residence to meet her. After both families agreed, a formal engagement was held at a hotel in Pune.

During the interrogation, Mittal told the police that his role was limited to introducing the two families with a proposal for the duo’s marriage, sources told CNN-News18. 

He claimed the families never imagined that Siya could be involved in such an incident. “Both Siya and Ketan appeared well-mannered, polite, and respectful", Mittal said.

When questioned about Siya’s alleged relationship with Chetan Chaudhary, he denied any knowledge of the matter, adding that he had known the accused since she was a child.

The wedding of Ketan Agarwal and Siya Goyel was scheduled for November.

The incident –– which happened on June 18 –– was initially brushed off as an accident. However, Siya’s inconsistency with her account of the tragedy raised suspicion among the deceased’s family members.

An investigation remains underway into the matter.
