Some of the biggest names in sports like Shohei Ohtani, Simone Biles, and Saquon Barkley are nominated across major categories. But here’s the twist, many of them won’t even be in the building.

Top ESPY 2025 nominees miss ceremony due to MLB All-Star Game schedule conflict

Even while the 2025 ESPY Awards honor sporting brilliance, some big celebrities won't quite make the grade.

Shohei Ohtani, one of baseball's most well-known players and nominated for Best Male Athlete and Best MLB Player, won't be there. He is scheduled for the same day, he is traveling to Atlanta for the MLB All-Star Game 2025. Similarly, Paul Skenes, the first-round pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, is nominated for Breakthrough Athlete of the Year and College Male Athlete of the Year but is also at the All-Star Game as the starter for the National League.
