US Democratic lawmaker Ro Khanna has come under the spotlight after he claimed that he was detained by rifle-wielding Israeli settlers during his visit to the West Bank earlier this week.

Khanna claimed that his group’s van was surrounded by Israeli citizens who were armed with US-made M4 rifles as he toured a part of the southern West Bank where residents face frequent settler attacks.

The US Congressman described the incident as a firsthand look at the impact of Israel’s occupation on Palestinians, as he considers a possible run for the US presidency in 2028.
