Chinnu Pappu, whose real name was Reshma, was a 24-year-old social media influencer from Adhur in Kerala’s Kasaragod district. Coming from a rural background, she built a strong online identity through short, relatable videos rooted in everyday village life. Over time, her authenticity helped her Instagram account grow to over 2.06 lakh followers, making her a well-known regional creator.

Online, Chinnu Pappu was celebrated for highlighting rural culture, local food, village routines and lesser-known places around Kasaragod. Speaking casually in the Tulu language, her videos reflected everyday life and resonated deeply with followers who saw their own experiences mirrored in her content. She usually posted once a week, maintaining a calm and grounded digital presence.

Her last Instagram post, shared six days before her death, focused on a leafy vegetable used in local cooking. The reel received nearly 6,000 likes and warm comments, with no signs of the tragedy that would follow.

Reshma’s personal life had seen recent upheaval. According to people familiar with the family, she had married for love, but the relationship ended in divorce just a month ago. She is survived by her four-year-old child, who is now staying with Reshma’s parents in Adhur.

Reshma was found dead in her rented house at Uliyathadka near Kasaragod town on Monday afternoon. Neighbours alerted others after noticing something was wrong, and she was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and ordered an autopsy, while tributes continue to pour in from followers and fellow creators remembering her for her simplicity and warmth.
