Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren confirmed the untimely demise of his grandson, Veer Soren, through a social media post.

A shocking incident has shaken the family of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren after his grandson, Veer Soren, was found dead at a homestay in the popular hill station of Himachal Pradesh’s Manali.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Champai Soren confirmed the sudden demise of his grandson. He wrote, “With profound sorrow, we inform you that our beloved grandson Veer Soren passed away untimely on 24 February 2026."

“After his health suddenly deteriorated in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, he was rushed to the hospital, but fate had other plans. With Veer’s departure, our family has been shattered. In deep grief, The Soren Family," he added.

What Happened At The Homestay

According to a report in ETV Bharat, Veer had arrived in Manali on February 22 along with two friends for a brief vacation. They were staying at a homestay in the Simsa area. His friends went out to explore the Solang and Sethan regions on February 24. Veer reportedly chose to stay back at the homestay.

When his friends returned around 12:30 PM, they found Veer asleep. Upon waking him, they said he complained of a severe headache. They ordered some medicine online, gave it to him, and Veer reportedly went back to sleep. But around 2 PM, his friends heard a crash from his room. On entering, they found him lying unconscious on the bed.

Immediate Medical Response

According to reports, Veer was rushed to Civil Hospital, Manali, by his friends. They said foam had begun oozing from his mouth while he was being taken there. Doctors attempted CPR to revive him, but he was declared dead at the hospital.

Police Investigation Underway

Following the news of Veer’s death, Manali police rushed to the homestay and took control of the scene. Early checks by the authorities showed no visible external injuries on the body.

“A post-mortem examination is underway, and the exact cause of death will be determined after the report is received. The family has been informed, and the body will be handed over to them after the post-mortem," Manali DSP KD Sharma told ETV Bharat.

Veer’s family has reached Manali. According to The Times of India, citing a senior police official, the death may be linked to high-altitude sickness. However, the exact cause will be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination.
