Why Kill Him? Ketan Agarwal's Father Says Wedding Would've Been Cancelled If Siya Refused

Vishal Agarwal said the family initially believed Ketan's death was an accident. However, he said they became suspicious when Siya showed no visible signs of grief.

The family of Ketan Agarwal, who was allegedly murdered at Lohagad Fort near Pune by his fiancée Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, said they would have cancelled the wedding had Siya simply refused to marry him.

Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, a prominent real-estate businessman, questioned why Siya allegedly resorted to such an extreme step and blamed her upbringing.

“What kind of mindset is this? Their mindset is so cruel that someone’s 26-year-old son could be killed. Society needs to take note of such a cruel mindset. Where does this ideology come from — their family, their upbringing?" Vishal Agarwal told NDTV.

Ketan, a director in the family’s business, was allegedly pushed to death from Lohagad Fort on June 18. Police have alleged that Siya and Chetan Chaudhary planned the murder.

Vishal Agarwal said the family initially believed Ketan’s death was an accident. However, he said they became suspicious when Siya showed no visible signs of grief after police brought Ketan’s body home.

“We thought it was an accident. But when the police came with his body, Siya didn’t show any reaction. There was no sadness on her face, and that bothered us," he said.
