The clip quickly spread online and brought strong reactions from fans and the racing community. His team, Kaulig Racing, took action right away and announced the suspension on March 17, 2026. But this is not the first time Daniel Dye has faced serious consequences. Back in 2022, he was also suspended after being arrested in a physical assault case during his school days. Daniel Dye’s arrest history and latest suspension over comments on David Malukas explained
Later, the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor. According to The Daytona Beach News-Journal, the case was eventually dismissed after Daniel Dye completed a deferred prosecution agreement. This included an eight-hour anger management course, 25 hours of community service, and paying restitution to the alleged victim. During that time, he was also suspended from ARCA competition. Now, in 2026, Daniel Dye is facing another suspension, but for a very different reason.
During a Whatnot livestream, he mocked IndyCar driver David Malukas. He questioned him about oval racing and then made fun of his voice.Daniel Dye said, “I was like, ‘Do y’all race any ovals?’ And he was, like, distraught that I asked him that question. He was like, ‘Yeah, we race Nashville and Iowa …’ I was like, ‘I didn’t know Miatas went to Nashville.’”He then copied David Malukas’ voice in a high-pitched tone and added, “Oh my gosh, yas, we race Indianapolis, too. Love Indianapolis. And Roger Penske. I love Roger. Love you, Roger!”He continued and said, “As soon as I start doing a David Malukas’ gay voice, I hit a gold card.
So let’s keep it going.”The clip went viral, and soon after, Kaulig Racing released a statement saying, “Kaulig Racing has indefinitely suspended driver Daniel Dye, effective immediately, after becoming aware today of comments he made on social media.”After the backlash, Daniel Dye shared an apology. He said, “I want to first apologize to David Malukas. I recently went on a live stream with some friends and made some careless comments.”He also added, “I’m sorry to anyone who was offended. That’s not how I want to represent myself.”Daniel Dye said he understands the impact of his words and wants to do better moving forward. However, David Malukas has not made any public comment yet.
